Community Teaching

A unique aspect of RISD’s MAT program is the opportunity it provides its candidates to work within one of the Department’s community outreach after-school programs for youth. This community teaching provides MATs not only to make a significant contribution to the lives of young people who have elected to become involved in programming that occurs beyond the scheduled school day, but to explore in collaboration with her/his peers teaching strategies that may well be more student-centered than my have be the case during regular school-based instructional time. In this section of the Program Portfolio the MAT reflects in images and text upon the nature of after-school teaching.
