WHAT: Project Open Door – Rhode Island School of
Design’s [RISD] free after school college preparation program for
urban teenagers – announces its Student Show and opening
reception.
The exhibit showcases the work of over 35 young artists and designers from Rhode Island and Massachusetts who are current participants and alumni of Project Open Door and RISD’s Pre-College Scholarship Program.
The show will feature work in a variety of disciplines including drawing, painting, ceramics, film, animation, and graphic design.
WHEN: Opening Reception – Thursday, January 10, 3:15pm to 6:00pm
Show continues through January 16
WHERE: Brown-RISD Hillel, 80 Brown Street, Providence, RI
ABOUT: Teens worked with professional artists and designers from RISD and from the local community to create the pieces on display. Workshops take place in studios at RISD, Hope High, and Feinstein High School. Feinstein High senior Keser Haji is among the students exhibiting her work. Keser has participated in the program since her freshman year. She said, “Project Open Door has literally opened doors for me. I received a full scholarship to RISD’s Pre-College program, where I studied fashion design. I’m now applying to local area colleges, including Roger Williams University, Brown University and RISD, where I hope to study architecture.
