During a five-day period from April 10, 2006 to April 15, 2006, Roman Catholic Holy Week, I wore a different pair of shoes each day. Often when I wear new shoes, my feet are cut and blistered. I have come to accept and acknowledge that in order to be fashionable,I must endure this pain. With this project, I had hoped to create blisters on the bridge of my foot resembling stigmata. I chose shoes I thought would create this marking and would cause pain to the central area of the foot. I photographed my feet in the morning with the new shoes on and in evening after wearing the shoes for the entire day. This act of self-flagellation mimics religious ceremonies and practices. Despite the pain I felt and counter to my expectations, there were little to no visible markings on my feet. However, I did develop one blister on the side of my foot that was remarkably heart shaped.
