Wintersession 2008: "Travel to Anywhere" Client Project

Mounted on 14" x 18" museum board.

The second fashion board assignment: Travel to Anywhere.

For this assignment, we picked partners to work with to design collections for them; each person would select a location that they were travelling to, their activities, career, etc. In turn, the designers would create collections suiting their needs and tastes. My partner was Yoshi, and she descided to be a 23-year-old pop-rock star going on a 3-month tour of Europe.

My inspiration was one of a princess who ran away from her home, and ventured to the vibrant nightlife of her home country. Throughout the night, she has gone to concerts, clubs, bars, and raves--so I wanted the collection to be very young and spontaneous. Elements that I incorporated into the collection were shredding, splattering, layering, and juxtaposition to reflect what happened throughout a long night of partying: your clothes get a little torn, stuff has been spilled on them, you lose a few items, and you pick up a few items too.

Yoshi was very open in terms of what she wanted, but she did say she like mostly neutrals with pops of color thrown in. So I stuck with neutral colors like black, white, denim blue, brown, and grey; I used blue, red, and pink as pop colors.
